SCHOLARSHIP:   This was our 100th annual scholarship.   Here’s one of the Thank you emails we recently received ……

Dear Rotary Club, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous scholarship and, more importantly, for the confidence you have shown in my potential.

Your support not only eases the financial burden of this next step of my life but also inspires me to uphold the values of service and altruism that your organization champions. Since receiving your award, I have had the honor of addressing my peers as the commencement speaker at Summit High School’s graduation ceremony.

This fall, I will begin my studies at Penn State University—where I plan to major in computer science with an emphasis in human–computer interaction—and soon after
transfer to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, thanks to an automatic transfer award. Throughout my time at both institutions, I look forward to pursuing a bachelor’s degree in three years, followed by an accelerated master’s program.

In addition to my academic journey, I am preparing for a cross‑country road trip this summer to raise awareness for ALS and to share the stories of those affected by this disease. Long term, I hope to combine my passion for technology and education by founding a business dedicated to teaching coding—while also gaining real‑world experience through a corporate role to help launch and sustain that venture.

I am deeply grateful for your investment in my future, and I will strive every day to honor your generosity by making a positive difference in the world.

Best Regards,
Dean Mauriello
