THERE IS NO MEETING ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21.  OUR NEXT MEETING IS SEPTEMBER 28

LAST WEEK

https://clubrunner.blob.core.windows.net/00000014794/Images/Mel_20260915-194756.jpgLast Monday, we held a Club Assembly focused on strategic planning, led by incoming Club secretary Melanie Cohn.

We began with the announcement that long-time secretary, Joe Steiner, was planning on leaving the area and noted that he oversaw many, many of the Club’s operating functions and that this workload would have to be allocated to other Club members. The board will undertake the chore of finding ‘volunteers’.

Melanie then introduced the strategic planning process by reviewing the survey sent to all members earlier this year. Most respondents—about half of the Club’s more active members—viewed the Club favorably, while also suggesting that it pursue more service projects. We divided into three groups to discuss the ideas each group proposed. Everyone agreed that in-person meetings are one of the Club’s strengths. There was also broad agreement that service opportunities are plentiful and that SNP Rotary members have the connections to identify them. The groups offered many specific suggestions.

In summary, we listed our assets as a congenial group of people offering a safe social setting to interact with a goal of trying to make our community a little better.  We are already doing four specific things that are positive: regular in person meetings with interesting speakers (suggestions about deepening our speakers/presentations were made and well received), our hundred plus years of scholarships, our three decades of the dictionary project, our relatively new constitution project, and, the opportunity to do a bit more.  Melanie will submit a more detailed report of the session with suggestions for implementation.  Watch for it.

A special thanks to Melanie for doing the considerable amount of work to put this meeting together.
