🗳️ Recap: Democratic Candidates Visit Rotary
Last Monday, we welcomed the Democratic slate of candidates for Summit City Council:
- Dan Crisafulli – At Large Candidate, nine-year Summit resident with a background in finance
- Jaclyn Lasaracina – Ward 1 Candidate, former attorney
- Chantal Landman – Ward 2 Candidate, sixteen-year resident and senior executive at Goldman Sachs
Each candidate shared their personal background and motivation for running, emphasizing themes of transparency, public safety, and fiscal responsibility—values shared across party lines.
During the Q&A session, several key issues were discussed:
- Shared Services: All candidates supported expanding shared services with neighboring towns to reduce costs associated with NJ’s 564 municipalities.
- Needs vs. Wants: They advocated for stricter evaluation of municipal projects, citing the purchase of custom playground equipment as an example of overspending.
- Affordable Housing: The candidates expressed concern over Summit’s compliance with Mt. Laurel obligations, noting the City’s inclusion in a lawsuit for non-compliance and warning of potential court-imposed mandates similar to those in Millburn.
Rotary thanks Dan, Jaclyn, and Chantal for their time and commitment to public service. Running for office is a significant undertaking, and we appreciate all candidates who step forward to serve Summit.
