THE ROTARY CLUB OF SUMMIT AND NEW PROVIDENCE

Over 100 Years of Service
We meet on alternating Mondays at Christ Church in Summit starting at 12:15 pm.

Monday’s speaker will be Brett Bonfield, Executive Director of the New Jersey Library Association, where he leads statewide advocacy efforts supporting libraries, librarians, and intellectual freedom. A longtime library professional, he has served as a public library director and held leadership roles at the state and national levels, with a strong focus on policy, governance, and public engagement. Brett has been a vocal advocate for the Freedom to Read Act, landmark legislation signed into law in December 2024 that protects the right of New Jersey residents, especially students, to access diverse library materials without censorship. At the invitation of our very own Amy Behr-Shields, Brett will speak with the Summit–New Providence Rotary on Monday, April 13, to discuss the law’s goals, provisions, and its impact on libraries and communities across New Jersey.

Every year, the local Boy Scout troop honors a select group of citizens from Summit who have made outstanding contributions to the community.

This year, the SNP Rotary cleaned up!  Of the six recipients, five were either active Rotarians, honorary or past Rotarians or married to a Rotarian.

The recipients were Mike Katz and Donna Patel, active members, Chuck Rush and Rick Wolffe, honorary Rotarians, and Lynne Rogerson, Summit College Club and wife of Jim Fleischmann, active Rotarian.  In addition, David Dietze, Rotary president received a special award, the Winthrop Rockefeller Award.

Congrats to all the winners who have and continue to make Summit a better place to live and prosper.

Our “MIXER’ will be held Tuesday, April 28th.  Last year we were able to sign up six new members.

IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTGED THAT   we add a reminder to bring in raffle stubs. We could point out that certain people, one of whom should have known better, returned his tickets instead of the stubs, so don’t be like that person!  Guess who!
