📌 Schedule Update
There is no meeting on Monday, June 29, nor on Monday, July 6. Our next meeting will be Monday, July 13. Enjoy the holiday week and we’ll see you mid‑July.
🌟 Foundation Committee Needs Your Help
The Foundation Committee — Evelyn Davis, Brad Eich, Donna Patel, and Joe Steiner — has completed the preliminary requirements to apply for a District Grant that could bring up to $4,000 in funding for a community project.
The timeline is tight:
- Applications must be submitted by the end of July
- Projects may begin in September
- Final reports are due by the end of next April
In past years, we partnered with local school districts on the Dictionary Project, but there is interest in exploring new ideas.
Your July 4th Homework
Think of a project we could complete with $2,000–$4,000 in funding. Projects may be done in cooperation with:
- Another nonprofit
- A church or community group
- Local citizens working to “do good” in our neighborhood
Please send your ideas to any committee member — or give one of us a call. The application process is straightforward, and we’re excited to see what the club can create together.

Later Monday, you will receive an email with your dues invoice (assuming the new ClubRunner process behaves itself).

🎤 Last Week’s Speaker: John Wilson
Our speaker was John Wilson, Past District Governor and long‑time Rotarian who has served in numerous leadership roles. John provided an excellent overview of the Rotary Foundation, Rotary International’s charitable arm.
Key Highlights
- Founded in 1917, the Foundation advances world understanding, goodwill, and peace.
- Focus areas include: Promoting peace, fighting disease, clean water & sanitation, saving mothers & children, supporting education, and growing local economies.
- Rotary’s most celebrated achievement: Reducing global polio cases by more than 99% since 1988 through partnerships with WHO and other global health organizations.
- Major programs include: Rotary Peace Fellowships and Global Grants supporting large‑scale humanitarian projects.
- The Foundation has distributed over $4 billion to humanitarian causes.
- It consistently earns top ratings for financial transparency (including 4 Stars from Charity Navigator).
When reviewing your membership invoice, you’ll see a voluntary EREY contribution — Every Rotarian, Every Year. We hope you will join us in supporting the Foundation’s work.
🔥 Past President Eric Evers Retires
Past President Eric Evers has announced his retirement from the Summit Fire Department after 38 years of service.
