NEXT MEETING IS MONDAY, AUGUST 24TH….. when we’re going international! Our guest …. Uttam Jaiswal will be based in the Morristown area …. In an recent open letter to Rotary members he announced “the flag of my club - the Rotary e-Club of Bangalore District 3191 - travelled with me from Bengaluru, India, to the United States.
“To me, it represents far more than a Rotary club. It represents friendship beyond borders, service beyond communities, and the timeless belief that when people come together with a spirit of service, geography becomes secondary.
My association with the Rotary family goes back decades - from my Rotaract days to serving as a Rotarian in a leadership role. I experienced firsthand how ordinary people, united by a common purpose, can create extraordinary impact in their communities. Like many professionals, life’s responsibilities gradually demanded more of my time, but the values that Rotary instilled in me never faded. Rejoining through the Rotary e-Club of Bangalore has felt less like starting over and more like coming home.” It should be an interesting program!
That will be our last meeting before Labor Day and we follow that up with our Strategic Plan discussion on September 14th. We will send another copy of the survey results to everyone after Labor Day.

WHAT DO ROTARIANS DO WHEN A SPEAKER HAS AN UNAVOIDABLE SITUATION AND HAS TO CANCEL?
We look within to find a last minute program. That’s what happened on August 10th and we didn’t have to look far, as we had a new member …. Annette Dwyer ready and willing to step in. Our newbee isn’t new to Summit, and she explained how she and her husband Terry came to town and the work they put in on their new home as well as their personal philosophies of giving back to the communities where they live. A number of questions brought out details of Shaping Summit Together (Summit 2005), the MLK Day of Service and her latest Tree Well project. The final question brought us a whole second program!
MONDO, the eclectic project on Springfield Avenue right next to the Promenade Park wasn’t always the fun place it is today, and Annette went over all the details from its humble beginnings to the performance venue to the beginnings of Marigolds and all that led to today’s stable mid block anchor.

SIGN IS HERE: Many of you have told us that it is time to change the sign at the New Providence border on Springfield Avenue that promotes the Rotary at the Grand Summit. President Brad showed the club the new sign that will go up there, that simply puts our website on the sign for folks to learn about us. We are also going to discuss the potential to put up additional Rotary Welcome Signs at the entrances to Summit.
PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS: Two new Paul Harris Fellows were presented. Mike Katz received his second PHF, and in honor of Peter Bolton’s 90th Birthday, the club awarded him his first PFH. Congratulations to all.
