Today’s speaker was Scott Ryan, founder and CEO of Investature.  Investature’s mission statement is to ‘accelerate the transition to a sustainable future through the levers of climate technology and sustainable investment solutions.’

Scott spent three decades in finance and recently decided to leave corporate America and offer institutions and individuals greater insight into how they can contribute to lessening their carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the environment.  He and his team use various technology/financial platforms to provide environmental funds and accompanying advise on selection for avenues to make climate-safe and/or environmentally sustainable investments.

His clients include pension funds, endowments as well as individuals.  Several interesting facts were related: a credible UN study showed that individuals with incomes over $75K can make a significant difference in how they allocate their investments and the more assets they have, the more impact they can have, and, the impact from bond investments swamps the impact from equity investments because it’s the bonds that fund the capital expenditures.  For bonds versus stocks, simply think funding a solar energy or wind farm versus a gas or coal fired utility generator.  For those interested in further exploration into how to invest more ecologically, visit Scott’s website: https://investature.com
