Last night, at the Grand Summit Hotel, about 100 well-wishers honored Joe Steiner, past president, Paul Harris Fellow, and "secretary for life" of the Summit/New Providence Rotary, for his forty years of service to the community. In what the Rotary hopes will become a tradition, Joe received the Club’s first 'Citizen of the Year' award.
Joe received proclamations of recognition from the City of Summit, County of Union, State of New Jersey, as well as a Congressional Citation and a commemorative flag flown over the Capitol. In addition, a special award from Rotary was presented to Joe and reads as follows:
To our friend and colleague, Joe Steiner:
Over the course of four decades, you have given capable, imaginative, steady and selfless service in all your professional and volunteer undertakings.
You embody the best qualities of community-minded citizenship.
In recognition of this, the Summit/New Providence Rotary is proud and privileged to present you with the
Club’s first “Citizen of the Year” award.
It was a great evening and the SNP Rotary would like to deeply thank all participants who attended and especially all those who donated so generously to our scholarship fund ( we raised close to $10,000), allowing us to continue offering financial assistance to deserving seniors from both the Summit and the New Providence High Schools.
